Studio J Disneyland Layouts

Our last two trips to Disneyland I used Zippadee papers to scrapbook the photos. I love that I was able to create Studio J layouts using the same papers, and they'll coordinate perfectly in our Disney album! I also love that it's so easy so size photos. No worrying about having to reorder different size photos or trying to crop them into tiny spaces!

This was our trip last summer. I am always eternally grateful to my cousin Kelly for helping us make our Disney dreams a reality! Click on any layout to make it larger.
Though I love them all. This first layout is my favorite because I LOVE the Goofy photo. Brendan was so mad at me for making him take the picture instead of heading for another ride!

Studio J June 2007

January Scrap Club Layouts--Roxie

These photos aren't the best, but I wanted to get them up tonight. I'll try and take better ones this week in natural light. I tried switching the settings on my camera to fluorescent light, but I think it made it worse. We are doing Roxie layouts this month. I love the papers, but it's a stretch for me to do pinks with all boys :)

Layout #1: I used black and white photos for this one because I love the combination of this color scheme with black and white. I used the December Stamp of the Month, Mad About You, the Rock the Block stamp set, and the coordinating Bling. The letters are cut on my Cricut using Art Philosophy. I filled in the holes with silver Stickles.

Layout #2: I used more of the Bling and the Roxie WOTG stamps along with Hooray Bouquet stamps (flowers). I cut the letters on the Cricut, and then used the flower stamps to give them color/dimension. I took these photos over the summer when we got together with my sister and her kids at the park. I figured cutie patootie Paige deserved a pink, blingy page :)

Layout #3: I didn't have photos for this layout. The ones I had printed were all horizontal instead of vertical. I'll have to remember to take some on Valentine's Day this year. Since I used the WOTG layout, I'll post CTMH's photo of the layout.

Rock the Block Valentine's Blocks

I haven't had a whole lot of time to play my Rock the Block set, but I did get one side done today. I want to use mine to be year-round decor for either my fireplace mantel or entertainment center. I am planning to create the following six sides:

1) Valentine's Day

2) Spring/Easter

3) Summer/Fourth of July

4) Halloween

5) Thanksgiving

6) I haven't decided. Originally, I though Christmas, but I have so much Christmas decor, I'm thinking maybe just a general family theme.

I'll post them as I finish. Here's the Valentine's themed side. I used retired Sweetheart papers (on clearance now on my website). I also used Mad About You (December SOTM) and Rock the Block stamps. The hearts and letters were cut on the Cricut.

Remember, you can get the blocks and the exclusive E-sized stamp set for just $15 with a $25 purchase. It's a great deal for the stamp set alone!

For my card, I went with the Valentine theme, although this is a card I made my hubby for our anniversary. I used Roxie papers and coordinating bling. I LOVE the zebra print paper in this pack! The heart was created using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.

Christmas Thank You Cards Part 2

Here are the rest of the Thank You cards I made. Again these were fairly simple and used the Michael's Recollections papers and CTMH Thank You stamps. These first ones are The Recollections Naughty or Nice. All of these papers have embedded glitter, so they are quite sparkly in person.

This last one uses the Recollections Classic Christmas papers. The paper is white dry embossed, and when you sand it, the red shows through.

Christmas Thank You Cards

I have lots of thank yous to send to friends, family, and my students, so in between all our fun family activities, I've been trying to find time to make Thank You cards. I know it would be faster to make all of them the same, but I get bored doing that :) I found some fun Christmas papers on clearance at Michaels that I bought just for this purpose.

The first ones use the Recollections Naughty or Nice papers. It's hard to tell in the photos, but these papers are embedded with glitter, so they are all sparkly. I also used a variety of CTMH Thank You stamps, ribbon and embellishments.

These last two use Recollections Classic Christmas papers. These papers are dry embossed and have a colored core, so when you sand them, the design shows through.

I made two of each card, so I'm about a third of the way there on cards.

Let It Snow Banner

This is the third and final banner I made as a Christmas gift. While I love the first two, I am in love with the Wonderland paper, so I'm partial to this one. The Twilight/Crystal Blue/Chocolate combo is one of my favorites! Not to mention the sentiment is very fitting! No White Christmas here, not even in the mountains. How can it be CHristmas with no skiing and no snow in the mountains? Luckily, the tubing hill was able to make snow, so we'll be able to participate in our post-Christmas tradition.

Anyway, I used Wonderland papers, several stamp sets, and the Art Philosophy (shapes) and Plantin Schoolbook (letters) Cricut cartridges. I love that the Art Philosophy cartridge coordinates with our stamps, so I can cut the snowflakes and then stamp them--so fun!

This one used Believe papers and my Art Philosophy and Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridges. I also used several stamp sets. The photos aren't stellar, but you get the idea :)

Holiday Light Tour

This year, we did something unique and different. Back in October, at our school auction, we bought a holiday lights limo tour. This week we ventured out on the tour. The kids were excited and we had a hard time settling in, but after a while, we were able to sit back and enjoy the lights. My parents and Taylor and Kaitlin joined us. Here are a few of the highlights.

If we ever do it again, I think we'll plan more stops to get out. Two and a half hours is a long time for the boys to be in the car.

Today, I'm trying to get the last of the gifts ready to mail, and then we can relax. I've been tired of how much time the boys are spending in front of a screen, so yesterday at Michael's, I bought a picture frame kit and the boys are busy working on some Christmas gifts of their own.

December Scrap Club--Elemental

This month we are using Elemental papers and chipboard Complements. I love Elemental because it's so versatile. I love the matching chipboard, too. Fun and easy to put together. I was searching the CTMH boards, and I was inspired by Jean Johnson's 10 page workshop with the papers and Complements. The first layout I created is a total scrap lift of one of her layouts. The only additions I made were to add the swirls from the Love Life stamp set and the stamping on the Complements (together, forever and always).

The next layout I used only the papers and complements. I just added the Cricut title. The Sorbet was a little girlie, but I thought it worked well for the puppy photos.

The third layout is traditional Christmas colors. I told you this was a versatile pack! I love the vintage look. I used the AP Cricut cartridge to cut the ornament at the bottom. The sayings were cut from the top of the papers.

A Few Cards for My Christmas Card Workshop

I've been really slow to take photos and get them up. Since my workshop is Saturday, I figured I'd better get to it. These are some of the Wonderland cards we'll be making. The colors aren't great because I took them tonight without natural light.

All cards use the Wonderland kit, and various snowflake and Christmas sets.

The first card was inspired by a card I saw on the CTMH board or a blog, and I can't for the life of me remember whose it is. If you know, please give a shout out!

For this card and the one above, I embossed the edges in silver. I love that this stamp set comes with an inner and outer snowflake stamp AND you can cut the snowflake using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. By far my favorite thing in the Idea Book. So many shapes!

I don't know why this one is blurry. Still haven't perfected my iPhone photo taking skills. I tend to move too much, I think.

This one is a retired set that I've always loved. I think it works beautifully with the browns in this pack.

This last card was inspired by Vicki's card here. It's one of my favorites! I love the wreath with the snow.

Give Thanks Banner...oops

Two weekends ago I made this banner for our wall. I used CTMH Dreamin' papers and the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. After I finished, I showed it to the family and hung it on the wall. It was only after it hung there three days that Austin noticed something wrong with it. Give it a good long look. Click to zoom if you need to...

OOPS! WHen I put it together, I switched the n and k without realizing it. Now the family joke is to ask what we give thak-ns for each day :)

OWH World Cardmaking Day Blog Hop

I love making cards for Operation Write Home. This fabulous organization helps me to combine something I love to do with the chance to help someone else. Operation Write Home provides handmade cards to soldiers serving on the front lines. Soldiers can then send the cards home to their loved ones. How great is that?!

Because of my crazy schedule, I decided to keep it simple for the blog hop. I used the new CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge to cut fun cards and shapes that made putting these cards together a snap.

No glitter allowed on OWH cards, so I used a few red gems to give it a little sparkle!

This card was literally one Cricut cut, glue and stamp the sentiment. Quick and easy!

This month's blog hop had several options. I chose a fall theme. I had every intention of creating cards, but time has not been my friend lately. I spent all weekend finishing these Back To School layouts and decided to share them for the blog hop. I used Typeset papers and the following stamps: Blue Ribbon, Vintage Type, and the stamp set included in the Typeset Workshop On The Go. I also threw in a couple Milepost shapes, Basic Assortment buttons, hemp, and several cutouts from the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge. The letters are from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge.

This first layout is B's first day. The smiley happy photos are from the first day. The ones in front of the rock we took the second day because we didn't have time the first. He was NOT happy about having to take the pictures, as you can see.

Balloons Over Boise

Once again I've been AWOL for a while. I apologize. These last few weeks have been tough. It's been quite an adjustment going back to school after relaxing all summer. Trying to get into a routine again, keep up with all responsibilities, and having a puppy has been crazy :) I can't believe it's already the fourth week of school! It's flying by already. Thursday is Back To School Night, and next week is already first quarter progress reports! They just got our computer grade system up and running today, so I'll be very busy the next few days getting grades up and ready for Thursday.

I did want to share some photos I took at the Spirit of Boise Balloon Fest a couple weeks ago. We got up and headed to the park at 6:00 am to see the launch. It was amazing! The boys loved it--we all want to go up in one now! It was a beautiful morning :)

Phineas chillin' in the car. What a cutie! He's getting so big! When we got him, he was 10 lbs. On Sunday, he was up to 24 lbs.

A few thank you cards...

I wanted to send a few thank you cards for those who were so good to us while we were in California. This is only a start, but I thought I'd post what I have so far. I won't say who they're for that way there is still some surprise involved :)

The first one uses Sparkle Creations Stamps (Swimming Lucy) and Echo Park Summer Days Collection. I love the bright colors in these papers. All the cards today I colored with my Copics. I also used various thank you sets from CTMH.

This next card also uses the Echo Park papers. The hedgehog is a former Stamp of the Month from CTMH. This is one of my all time favorite stamp sets, and I keep hoping it will come back in a future idea book!

For the third card I used Sparkle Creations' Cafe Lucy. I also used papers and cut the flower with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.

The last card uses Sparkle Creations' Ukulele Josh. The papers are CTMH Moon Doggie. I had a hard time finding papers to match the bright green and red I'd already colored the image. I bought this stamp because it reminds me of my Uncle Chuck, who plays the ukulele, as well as a host of other instruments. This one is actually going to him and my Aunt Lisa for having us over for a wonderful BBQ.

This week I'm very busy trying to find a balance between enjoying the last few days of summer break, getting everything done I need to around here (like thank you cards), and getting things prepped for school. I can't believe I go back to work Friday and school starts next Wednesday! Where did summer go?

My fur babies

Forgive me, I must share more pictures of my puppies today. I went outside today to snap a couple pics of the new baby. He's growing so fast. Susie wanted in on the action, too. It's funny, when we first got her, she wouldn't let me anywhere near her with the camera, and she would never look at me when I tried to take her photo. Amazing what a little jealousy will do--she was right in there ready for her close up!

Wicked and Mischief

I got my CTMH order filled with all the new goodies, and I've been having loads of fun playing! One of the Workshop on the Go kits I bought was Mischief. I love that these papers can be used for Halloween, fall, or masculine cards.

The bonus project in the kit was a Halloween banner. I used the basic layers, but changed up the embellishments, and added images from the Stamp of the Month. I also used the new Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge for the letters. I guess it looks pretty darn good because when Mike got home, he looked at it funny and wondered why I was already out buying Halloween decorations. He was relieved when I said I made it :)

This is the first layout in the workshop. The only unscrapped Halloween photos I have are red and blue and didn't look right, so I'll save it for this year's Halloween pics. I didn't finish the other layout yet.

A card I made with the new August Stamp of the Month. I am loving the new SOTM program. Now when you spend $50, you get the stamp for $5. As an added bonus this month, you also get the Typeset Alphabet set FREE! I love the witch in this set. I can see her with sparkly red shoes or purple and green tights. Too fun! Animal Tales--Our new baby, a scary moment, and a new friend

It's been a crazy weekend/week so far. Saturday, we made the mistake of stopping at Cabela's. Someone was selling a whole litter of labs, and I fell in love. We ended up bringing home Phineas. How could you resist that adorable face? I am remembering how much work puppies are, and thank goodness for our little green machine! Last night he FINALLY slept through the night without crying and barking.

Someone is getting really attached already (besides me that is--he had me at first snuggle).

Amazing that he thinks this is a comfortable way to sleep.

Took this today. I swear he's bigger already! Look at those paws--he's going to grow up to be a BIG guy!

The main reason we got a puppy was for our other dog Susie. She has not adjusted well to being an only dog ever since we lost Dexter in May. While we were on vacation, she kept jumping the fence into the neighbors' yard to play with their dogs. Plus, she was chewing up the garage pretty bad while Mike was at work. We figured she was lonely.

Yesterday, we almost lost Susie. She pushed past Brendan and escaped through the front door. Usually, when she gets out, she runs around the cul-de-sac and into the wetland area (aka the swamp) a few houses down. This time, she ran out onto the busy street. I got over there just in time to see her run across, through traffic. She made it across. I planned to go get the car to get her because I didn't want her to run back across. Unfortunately, she had other plans. She dashed across, right in front of a line of cars. The speed limit is 45, so even though the front car slammed on her brakes, she hit Susie. The lady got out upset and in tears, but Susie rolled out from under the car and ran toward home. I was so upset that I immediately took her to the vet. Miraculously, she is fine. Pretty bruised up, but no broken bones or internal bleeding. They sent her back home last night with pain meds. I still can't get that image out of my head, but am so thankful she's ok, especially because Brendan was so upset he let her out. I don't think he'd ever have been the same if she'd been badly hurt. She is one tough, lucky girl!

Susie today, sore but thankfully ok.

Lastly, I kept hearing this loud screeching this morning, so Austin and I went out to investigate. This big guy (or girl?) was sitting on our roof. The boys were fascinated. He stayed there for more than an hour. We still keep hearing him but haven't been able to find him again. I don't know what he is. Hawk? Falcon? I'm sure Mike will know.

Event Calendar

My scrapbook club wanted to make Event Calendars instead this month, so this is the project we will be making tonight. I used scraps from lots of paper packs, June's Stamp of the Month, our month stamps from a few years ago, and Embrace Life (bicycle). I don't think I've ever done another project that made such a huge mess out of my scrap room :)

I still haven't decided how I want to finish out the cover. It's tough because it can't be too bulky or it won't hang right on the wall. I sure wish my new Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge was here already!

I wanted to have a Framed Legacy piece made for my grandparents. They chose pictures of my dad (on the left) and uncle when they were kids. I love the way it turned out. They did, too. My grandma cried when she opened it. That's what I love about Framed Legacy. When people get their piece, the emotions are so high. While I was in California, I scanned a bunch of old photos to scrapbook. I'd like to have several of them made into Framed Legacy pieces for a family wall.

I didn't have a lot of space to bring scrappin' stuff. I ended up just bringing my Copics and images to color. Plus I had Sparkle send my new Sparkle Creations stamps down here. Loads of fun coloring. Can't wait to get home and make cards :)

California Fun part 1--The Beach

We went to the beach twice last week. The first time we went to Huntington just to walk the pier, and hang out at the open air market. The boys played near the water digging up sand crabs, but didn't have their suits. The second time, we went to Seal Beach, and they played in the water, built sand castles, and let me bury them in the sand. They had a great time.

I'm having a hard time posting from my iPad, so if the spacing is kind og goofy, sorry.

California Fun Part 2--Disneyland

I LOVE Disneyland, and wanted to share some of our highlights from our visit. It was packed that day. The only time I've seen it more crowded was the day after christmas. We pretty much waited an hour for every ride.

The first ride of the day was Space Mountain. It was the first time either one had been on the ride. They were a little nervous, but LOVED it. When we got off, Bren screamed, "That was awesome! Best ride ever!"

Next was Buzz Lightyear Astroblasters.

This one is Austin at the exact center of Disneyland. We watched a Netflix video that showed where to find this stake. Austin couldn't wait to see if it was really there. It's in Sleeping Beauty's castle, by the way.

Goofy-- the only character pic of the day. I had a hard time convincing the boys to stand in line for characters. When we found Goofy with a short line, I said they didn't have a choice. Mommy needed one character pic, and I love Goofy. As you can see, Brendan was not thrilled.

Jungle Cruise. I love this ride. The corny jokes always crack me up. I always say when I retire, I want to work at Disneyland on the Jungle Cruise.

One of the rides the boys were waiting to ride was Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. After waiting an hour in line, Brendan decided not to go on. Mike and Austin had fun (even though Austin looks a little worried).

Then we headed to California Screamin'. Bren was about a quarter inch to short to ride, so it was Austin and I. I was worried about him, but when we were upside down in the loop, I looked over and he was cracking up laughing.

Art Philosophy Cricut® Collection

Look what they announced at convention yesterday! This is incredible. The cartridge comes with three coordinating stamp sets and chipboard die cuts. Loving this! Plus, most of the new stamps in the Idea Book have coordinating shapes in the cartridge. I know what I'm ordering. Plus, I think I'm going to have to upgrade to a Cricut Expressions for bigger shapes!

More Framed Legacy Artwork

These are the two pieces I received at my Grand Opening party. I just can't get over what an unbelievable job they do! The pictures already meant a lot to me, but seeing them made into these gorgeous artwork pieces, brings tears to my eyes.

This first one is my grandparents' wedding photo. I am in love with the touches of color and the gorgeous antiquing. I lost my grandmother several years ago, and this picture reminds me of what a beautiful person she was inside and out. Austin's comment was, "That doesn't look like Great-Grandpa, that looks like Uncle Andy."

This picture was take at our family reunion a few years ago. It's all the young cousins (minus one born last year). They've only all been together twice, so this means the world. I can only imagine taking another one of these when they are all grown up! It's already hard to believe that the two youngest ones are now 5 and 6. I left this one in sepia because I wanted it to have a timeless look.

July Blog Hop

I just joined a CTMH blog hop group. If you are already on the hop, you came from Michelle's site. For July we had a choice of creating a project with a party/picnic theme or a project using the July stamp of the month. I chose the latter. In case you couldn't tell by recent posts, I LOVE this month's stamp set.

So far, I've been stuck in the mindset of Fourth of July for this set. My first card was no exception. I random stamped the background in Crystal Blue, Indian Corn Blue, and Cranberry. I embossed the star in Cranberry and added the banner. To finish it off, I decided to add some sparkle with Prisma Glitter.

When I finished, I wondered what the card would look like in a different color scheme. I chose Gypsy, Watermelon, and a hint of Pear. I love the fun summer look.

My New Venture, Framed Legacy

It seems that in recent years, I always have too much on my plate. No one was more surprised than me when I signed up to become a consultant with a brand new company, Framed Legacy. However, from the moment I first saw their products, I knew I wanted to be a part of this special company.

The company is a local Idaho business (right down the street from my house) and brand new--I'm one of the first 20 consultants. They create gorgeous, one of a kind artwork from your photos. Each piece is in a hand burnished, knotty alder frame. You have a choice in colors (color, black and white, sepia, or even a combination). I have so many ideas for pictures I want to use that I had a hard time deciding on which ones to get with my kit. This is the first one I chose. I have always loved these pictures we took our first fall back in Idaho. I chose to have it in color because I love the rich, autumn colors.

I have two more pictures coming today. They will be revealed at my grand opening party tonight. That is one of the really special things about this company. When you book a party, you may order one piece at half price. The reveal of your piece will be part of your party. Plus, you may use the hostess rewards from your party to get a refund on the half you paid. What a great deal!

More than the prices and the unique artwork, I was touched by the beauty of preserving family memories and legacies on your wall. I have plans to do a family history wall in our house with photos of all grandparents and great-grandparents. I also want to do a wall with our family's beginnings--a wedding picture of Mike and I and a baby picture of each of my boys.

The company also has beautiful stock images that you can order. I received this one as part of my kit. I love the image of the soldier with the wings. It doesn't show up in the photo, but the background says, "John 13:15."

A Couple Fanfare Cards

These are the two cards we'll be making at scrap club.

The first one uses this month's stamp of the month, American Celebration. You can earn this stamp set at a discount or even FREE during the month of July. I wanted to do something a little different with the stars to make it look more like and any occasion card rather than a Fourth of July card. I thought the layered stars looked more like a quilt pattern.

The second card uses the stamps that came with the Fanfare Workshop on the Go and the retired Card Chatter set. I used Liquid Applique for the frosting, and I placed small brads to look like sprinkles.

Relay for Life 2011

As many of you know, my family has been greatly impacted by cancer. I've lost four uncles, and my brother is a cancer survivor. This year, we had the privilege of being a part of Relay for Life. My mom volunteered with organization and set up a team for my brother. As an added blessing, he was able to fly up here and take part.We had an amazing evening. This was a very emotional event for all of us.

Austin walked/ran over 8 1/2 miles on the track--34 laps. Crazy kid. He's definitely going to have to run track and cross country when he gets older.

As the sun went down, it got cold. I was really glad we hadn't elected to stay the night. Austin decided that Taylor's old BK sweatshirt was a lot more fun than the one he brought.

What it's all about:

Remembering those we have lost. The luminary ceremony, complete with bagpipes, was hauntingly beautiful. To Uncle Bob, Uncle Billy, Uncle Duke, and Uncle Bill: we love you and miss you!

Celebrating those who have survived. Every time I look at this picture, it brings tears to my eyes. Andy battled cancer while I was pregnant with Brendan. To see them together reminds me of how blessed we are. To me, this picture symbolizes everything about the evening.

Fanfare Layout--Hogle Zoo

I've had the photos for this layout sitting here for a couple years now, so I decided to finally scrapbook them. I love these Fanfare papers. They are so versatile that you can use them for anything! This is one of the layouts we'll be making for my July Scrap Club.

The stamps I used were Shining Star, Life is a Jungle, and a set from a special card kit we had a couple years ago (Celebrate the Everyday).

I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July. We hung out here, barbecued, and lit fireworks. The boys had a great time with the poppers and sparklers.

Sorry I've been missing. Last week I took a class on Service Learning and Inquiry. It was a 3 credit class, so to say that it completely dominated my time last week is an understatement. I learned so much, and I think my students will really benefit. I figured I'd share artwork of a different nature. As part of the class, I had to create a flip book that describes the unit I had to prepare. I'm sure you can guess, this was my favorite part :)

I love the idea of these flip books as a creative, all inclusive way of showing what students have learned. I know I'll be doing this with my own class.

I used Watermelon, Bubblegum, and Ocean (colors I miss from our palette), as well as flowers, ribbon, and miscellaneous stamps.

I'm hoping to finish up some Fanfare artwork I've been working on and get it posted this weekend. If not, I hope you have a fabulous three-day weekend!

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Actually, my mom's birthday was a couple days ago, but this is the first chance I've had to post. We got a new computer--our first Mac, and it's been a little bit of a challenge to learn how to use it, and get everything moved over. The best news in that deal is that Mike surprised me with an iPad while we were in the Apple store. I never thought I could love a device this much! It's so quick for checking email and Facebook, plus music and movies. I know it's silly, but I already can't (ok don't want to) live without it!

Anyway, onto the card:

I used the bicycle from the Enjoy Life set. When my mom saw this set, she got excited because she used to have a bike just like it. After I gave it to her, she told me her bike had been teal, but in this case, it's pink to match the beautiful Sophia papers. I used Hollyhock and Pear for the stamping. I then used pink Stickles on the bike for the sparkly effect. I also used the You and Me stamp set for the swirls on the flowers and the journaling box. Happy Birthday came from the Happy Birthday set. I added Opaques, Pretty Pins, and White Daisy flowers (one is sponged with Blush) to complete the card. I love that I was able to take a neutral image (the bicycle) and make it so girly :)

Happy Father's Day--part 2

Happy Father's Day to all the dads and grandpas!

This card is for Papa. I used Passages paper and Enjoy Life and For Every Occasion stamps. The pattern is a sketch from Operation Write Home.

This is Mike's card, and I shamelessly stamplifted it from Vicki's fabulous You and Me card. I loved her design! I used Passages papers, and You and Me, Enjoy Life, New Horizons, and For Every Occasion stamp sets.

We have double the celebration because today is also Mike's birthday. Happy Father's Day and Happy Birthday to the best husband and father! I love you!

Happy Father's Day--part 1

I have a number of people in my life I send Father's Day cards to, so I've been busy! These first three cards all use Lucky papers. This is one of my favorite paper packs because I love the muted colors, so perfect for masculine cards. These three cards are for my dad and both my grandpas.

This first one also uses the Enjoy Life stamp set--love that bicycle stamp!

This one uses Enjoy Life (bicycle figure) and Lucky stamp sets.

The last one uses Enjoy Life (clock) and For Every Occasion (Happy Father's Day).

I will post the last two cards tomorrow. Since Mike and Al (my stepdad) are online, I don't want to spoil the surprise :)

Fanfare Layout--Brendan's Birthday

This is the Workshop on the Go layout for the Fanfare kit. It worked out perfectly for the pictures from Brendan's 6th birthday party. We had it at Jump Time indoor trampoline park. The kids had a blast, but most of my pictures didn't turn out because I forgot my DSLR camera, and my little Nikon couldn't keep up with the action. I was at least able to get cupcake photos and a couple shots of the birthday boy.

In addition to the workshop kit, I used You and Me stamps (journaling box) and Extreme Caps (title).

Operation Write Home Cards Second Million Challenge

I have to give a HUGE shout out to Nona Davenport for these fabulous cards! I purchased her Thrifty Thirty Template last week, and I am in love! In this template, she shows you how to get THIRTY cards from HALF a paper pack. You make six different designs, five cards each. If you want to get the most cards from a paper pack, I highly recommend getting her template. Such a great deal--best $5 you'll ever spend because you'll use it again and again!

On Saturday, I hosted an informal crop. I told people to bring their own projects to work on, or come create cards for Operation Write Home. I decided to cut cards from Nona's template for both the Passages paper pack and the Moon Doggie paper pack. I figured 60 cards would be plenty. Boy was I wrong! I had a fellow teacher bring her two daughters and niece (two of whom are former students of mine). They had the 60 cards done in no time, even helped me decide on stamps and embellishments for some of the cards. Next time, these girls come, I'll have to double the prep!

The cards turned out beautifully. I love the designs. Thank you, Nona! I will be hosting a workshop to make these cards in August. More details will follow, as it gets closer. Why I Love Studio J

Yesterday afternoon, while I was upstairs posting the pictures from our adventures, my boys were up to no good. They got the brilliant idea to cut their own hair! I probably should have been mad, but I couldn't stop laughing at how ridiculous they looked, especially Brendan. Austin told me I shouldn't laugh at them, and I said if he didn't want people to laugh, they shouldn't cut their own hair. Poor Brendan was crying because I told him we were going to have to shave his head. He kept saying, "I don't want to be bald!" Luckily, Mike came home and buzzed their hair, and they love the results.

What does that have to do with Studio J? Last night, I uploaded the pics and created this layout. Click on the layout to see it larger.

Just Another Summer Day

This morning started out like the rest of our lazy summer mornings this week. However, when I asked the boys what they wanted for breakfast, they said Star Wars pancakes. I bought these molds at Williams Sonoma last year for Father's Day. The only time we've attempted to make them, the result was disastrous. I gave it another go. This time, they weren't too bad. I only ended up with two that went to the dog because they stuck to the molds.

Bren looks like he's on sugar overload before he even takes a bite.

Then, like Phineas on Phineas and Ferb, I said, "Boys, I know what we're going to do today!" The plan was to go to the zoo and see the new butterfly exhibit, then roller blade in the park. Apparently everyone else in Boise had the same idea. I forgot that Thursday is half price day, and when we got there, not a parking space in sight, and the line was around the corner. We decided to skip the zoo.

As I was driving around looking for a place to park, we drove by the big pond. The boys asked if we could go for a ride in the paddle boats. Since this is something we always say we want try , but never have, we rented one.

It's not easy to get a photo of all three of us in the boat.

I opted for our feet instead.

It was cool and sunny, a perfect day for a boat ride.

We saw tons of geese and ducks. Other than this little guy,

Mama ducks kept their babies far from us. We saw one duck that had 11 babies!

The Canadian Geese, however, had no qualms about swimming right up to the boat.

It was a fun experience!

After the paddle boats, we strapped on the roller blades and went for a ride. The bridge turned out to be the biggest obstacle. It took a lot of hanging on to keep from flying down.

Once we reached the other side, we bladed along the backside of Boise State, down to Broadway, and back to the park. About a mile and a half.

All in all, the boys did a great job. Brendan got pretty tired on the way back, but he was a little trooper. At the bridge, he decided to take of his blades and walk the rest of the way because he was scared to try the bridge again. Smart boy! I was carrying all his gear, and almost ate it on the down side of the bridge!

Afterward, they were thirsty, so we stopped at McDonald's for frozen strawberry lemonades.
Tomorrow, I think we're going to try the zoo again and take along our bikes for a greenbelt ride. Even though these 65 degree days don't feel like summer, they're perfect for getting outside and having some fun :)

Since I am a mom of boys, I've been drooling over the Lucky papers since the catalog came out. The colors and patterns are some of my favorites to use for scrapping. Here's a sneak peek at two of the layouts we'll be making at June's scrapbook club. I'll be posting the cards and the third layout sometime soon.

Brendan just finished his first season of T-ball. I LOVE these pictures! The Lucky papers were perfect for baseball pics.

I am down to just 7 and 1/4 days left of school. I'm finishing up grades, and trying to get everything at school organized for the summer break. While I am very ready for summer, I can't believe how quickly this year has flown by! My baby will be six next week. Where does the time go?

May Club--Sophia Layouts

These are the layouts we'll be doing in my monthly scrapbook club. With the exception of the titles, these layouts use only the items in the Sophia Workshop on the Go. The kit comes with the papers, waxy flax, hemp, and the Sophia stamp set. You can get the kit for just $29.95 here.

The first layout is from CTMH's Reflections book. I used the Bohemian Alphabet for the title.

The second layout is from the new Magic book. I thought the family photos we took Easter day worked perfect for these papers. OK, admission time: I bought the boys shirts to match these papers :) I knew we were doing these layouts for club, and it's hard to find pictures for such girly papers. I found the perfect green shirts at Old Navy. That's when you know you are a scrapbooker!

This last layout is the layout that I made from the instructions in the kit. I again used the Bohemian Alphabet for the title. Can you tell I love that stamp set?! I still need to add journaling on the left side of the layout.

Oregon Coast Trip

I know I've been MIA for a while on here. March has been a bad month for posting! Made it through the end of the quarter at school. Then I spent time getting ready for spring break. We've been in Oregon since last Saturday. We spent Saturday through Thursday in Rockaway Beach on the coast. Then Thursday we drove to Portland. We made it home late last night. Now it will be a day of laundry and getting ready to go back to work and school tomorrow. For those looking for artwork, bear with me. I'll be posting quite a bit this week. In the meantime, here are some highlights from our trip. We rented this fabulous condo on the beach in Rockaway Beach. This was the view out our huge front windows. Unfortunately, it rained 90% of the trip, so our adventures out onto the beach were pretty short, but we still managed to come home with a whole bag of sand dollars and shells. Though we did get out and explore, we spent a lot of time inside. We watched Star Wars (the boys conveniently forgot all the Harry Potter movies, but remembered Star Wars), put together puzzles and we taught the boys how to play Monopoly. Brendan totally got into it. The little real estate tycoon cleaned everyone's clocks. Yes, that was how many $500 bills he had at the end. We drove down to Tillamook and went to the cheese factory. Squeaky cheese curds and ice cream, what could be better? We went to Seaside and explored the Prom there. We got to ride the bumper cars (I'm still feeling that adventure in my neck!). We also went to the aquarium. The boys got to feed the seals, as well as touch starfish and anemones. Austin found Patrick and Sponge Bob--sort of.

I had to include this sign because it made us laugh. Love the restrictions!

We also enjoyed great food on our trip. These were buckwheat pancakes with fresh boysenberry syrup. The only boysenberry syrup I've ever had was from Knott's. It was yummy!

I'll end with some shots from Cannon Beach on our last day on the coast. You can tell from the pictures exactly what the weather was like our whole trip.

Awww...memories of Goonies! I still have tons of photos to sort through, and I haven't even uploaded the ones from Portland yet. We had lots of fun there with my sister and her family. Plus, a great trip to OMSI, the science museum. I think this is enough fun to share for now.

OWH Bunny Hop

Baby Card

I made this card for a friend of mine who just had a baby girl. She'll probably see it on here long before I ever manage to get it in the mail. The card was inspired by this outfit. I fell in love with this outfit not just for the adorable jeans, but the fact that it was cute and girlie without being pink. Aren't the little striped socks just too cute for words?! I love getting to shop for little girls :)

The card used all CTMH products (except the Copics). The stamps were Ms. On the G0 and Express Postage. The papers were Whoops-a-Daisy. I found a whole unopened pack of that paper when I was cleaning. I don't even remember buying it. Must be one of the free packs I received at some point.

Cafe Lucy Birthday Card

For this card, I used Cafe Lucy from Sparkle Creations and CTMH Happy Birthday. The flower is cut from the CTMH Designer Ribbon, Pink Collection. I also used Stickles, brown ribbon, and CTMH Opaques (pearl in the center of the flower). The paper is Jolie Chocolat from SEI.

Project Life Weeks 6 & 7

Still sick around here. I went to the Dr. yesterday. After waiting 3 hours, I found out that in addition to my cough, I have a sinus infection and an ear infection. The bad news is that the cough medicine they gave me actually made my cough worse, and I got no sleep last night. The good news is that they gave me Z-pack, so I'm already starting to feel better. I stayed home today, along with Brendan, who is pretty stuffed up. Here's hoping we'll all be back to school tomorrow!

On another positive note (trying to be grateful here), I had time to read the novel The Help. I loved this book! It deals beautifully with the tough subject of segregation and race relations. It made me laugh and cry. I couldn't put it down. I was sad when it ended. I would definitely recommend this book.

A Couple 4 am Cards

I've had a horrible cough for the last week, and haven't been sleeping well. At four this morning, I gave up and headed to my scrap room. I colored a few of my new Sparkle Creations images, and I decided to make a couple cards.

The first card used Celebrating Chloe and CTMH's Piece of Cake, as well as Opaques as embellishments. The papers are Basic Grey's Perhaps. I love the way the colors and papers came together.

This card uses Birthday Josh. I used CTMH's Shining Star and Express postage for the sentiment. The papers are retired CTMH Birthday Bash.

I am loving my new Copics, but I'm not sure about 4am stamping sessions :)

What happens when you give a 5 year old your camera?

This weekend is our big district basketball tournament for 7th and 8th grade. Since normally, the kids play on teams with members from all the schools, this tourney is all about school pride and playing together as a class/school. It's great fun, and it also means that we've already attended 5 games in two days. The boys weren't thrilled about going, but did a great job of supporting their school.

This morning our seventh grade boys had to play our 8th grade boys. That was a hard one for me, since I teach both grades. The 8th graders won. Brendan was bored, so I asked him to take some pictures of the game, so I could post them on my Smart Board Tuesday. In all, he took 49 pictures, and MOST of them were of the game. However, it was the in-between ones that were my favorites. I'm sensing a scrapbook page in my future!

Valentine's Day

I know I'm a day late, but I hope everyone had a fabulous Valentine's Day! We had a nice relaxing one at home. I wanted to share a few of our LOVE-ly creations.

This first one is the Valentine card I made for Mike. I used the February Stamp of the Month, Friendship for the background, Hearthrob for the hearts, and My One and Only for the sentiment. The ribbon is CTMH's new Ruffled Ribbon. I also used glitter (of course) and Black Opaques. I took the photo at night, so it's hard to tell how sparkly the heart is.

The boys prefer store bought Valentine's, so I don't get the fun of making their class ones anymore :( I decided to make some for my class instead. I needed something quick, and I wanted to use my Copics, so I came up with these. I used our adorable Party Animals set. This set came out for Halloween, but I automatically saw V-Day and birthday.

Here's a shot of Brendan's Valentine's all filled out. The cards themselves are blurry because their holographic. When you turn the card, the puppies get bigger.

I probably won't be posting much this week. I have progress reports due Friday, so I've got to keep busy grading. I'm also still sick. This seems like the cold that will never go away. I'm down to just a cough now, but it's no fun. Not sick enough to stay home, but not well enough to get much done.

We've been so busy the last couple weeks that I haven't had much time for creating. I have been keeping up on Project Life, though.

Last week, my wonderful hubby got me Copics for my birthday. I kept telling myself I didn't need them, but I've wanted them forever. I have squeezed in a little time for playing with them. I can tell they are going to be addicting. Every time I color, I think of more colors I'd like to have. This could be trouble. Now I just need to make from cards from some of these images :)

We're having Austin's birthday party today. Then it will be another crazy week as I get ready for progress reports Friday. I can't believe we've halfway through the third quarter. Time flies!

Friendship Card

Here's another card using the February Stamp of the Month, Friendship. I love the damask look of this set! For this card, I stamped Indian Corn Blue on Indian Corn Blue cardstock for the background. I stamped the large image in second generation Indian Corn Blue. Then I stamped the quote using Outdoor Denim. Simple, yet elegant.

Fall Layout with Friendship and Bohemian Alpha

I had a CTMH Scrapbook party for a friend Thursday. I wanted a layout to showcase the new Stamp of the Month, Friendship. The inspiration for this layout came from some cards I saw on Vicky's blog. I would have never thought to put Sunset and Lagoon together with black. I loved her cards, and had to re-create the look. I knew these pictures I took would be perfect with all the bright orange in the leaves and the boys' shirts.

Sophia and Bohemian Alphabet

Are you tired of Sophia yet? I can't help it; I love the pinks. Hollyhock and Blush are two of my favorite CTMH colors. I used the Bohemian Alphabet (another new favorite). I also used Posy for the flower, with a Blush button for the center. I stamp kissed the flower with the February Stamp of the Month to give it a textured look.

I love the damask look of this month's Stamp of the Month set, Friendship. I made this set of cards for a friend who is hosting a party for me this week. I used the SOTM, Friendship. I also used the new Bohemian Alphabet, Sophia, and Posy. The Hollyhock card uses the new Pinks Designer Ribbon. I cut one of the roses from the ribbon. Colors are Black (my Black needs to be re-inked, but I like the gray look), Hydrangea, Ocean, Moonstruck, Hollyhock, and Pear.

Lucky Level One Pages

I decided to order a Level One kit to show at the party I'm having this week. We are focusing on creating layouts easily and quickly, or as Close To My Heart says, "faster, simpler, easier." The Level One kits come with four pre-printed pages, Stickease and extra cardstock ans B & T. This layout came together in about 15 minutes from beginning to end. The kit is called Lucky. Perfect for boys and summer pictures!

I am loving this Sophia paper! Here's a couple more cards using Sophia papers and new stamps. This first one uses this week's Operation Write Home sketch flipped on it's side. I used the new Affection set and Blush buttons and brads.

For this card, I used the stamp set from Sophia Workshop on the Go. I also used the new Blush ribbon.

Sophia Sneak Peek and H2H Challenge

Just a few more days until the new Close To My Heart catalog goes live! I am just loving each and every paper pack in there! I wish I could buy them all :) In the meantime, I've been playing with Sophia today. The fun pinks and green aren't my usual pallette with two boys, but with Valentine's Day coming up, I figure they work.

The card is one I created for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge blog. The challenge this week was to use an animal, bird, or insect. The stamps in this card come from the Sophia Workshop On The Go.

I am doing a scrapbook party for my friend Michelle this week. This layout is the project we'll be creating as the make n' take. I used the new Sophia papers again. I also used the new Bohemian Alphabet, which I am LOVING! This may well be my favorite alphabet set ever! I also used Affection, which features the adorable heart flowers, Mini Sparkles, and Blush buttons.

Cards for OWH Sketch Challenge

For last Sunday's Sketch Challenge, there were two sketches. I decided to make one of each.

For the first one, I used CTMH Wings papers and the Rosy Regards and Wings stamp set. I love the base and shade stamps because you get the look of layering and texture just by stamping.

For the second sketch, I used Wings papers again. I used the Juniper side instead of the Sweet Leaf side for a different look. The butterfly comes from January's Stamp of the Month. I have to say, this is my favorite Stamp of the Month we've EVER had. I can't wait to ink it up some more this week! The sentiment is from the TLC set.

Project Life--First Two Weeks

As I mentioned in my goals post, I bought a Project Life kit this year. I'm not necessarily trying to do a photo a day, but more of a weekly glimpse of our lives. I knew if I tried to do daily, I'd never keep up and quit. I do know that I can make time each week for the journaling and photos. I'm working on capturing the little day to day moments in our lives. A Layout From last Night's Crop

Last night I actually attended a scrapbook crop! Back in October at the school auction, I purchased a spot for my mom and I in a scrapbook crop at the local scrapbook store. We had a great time! It was fun to scrap with other teachers and parents. We decided to try and do it once a month. I didn't accomplish too much thanks to too much talking and shopping. I did manage to get one layout finished. It's from the Magnifique Workshop on the Go. I wasn't sure I'd like the peacock-themed papers when I ordered them, but in person, the colors are STUNNING! I used it for some pictures from our Seattle trip over the summer. We drove over to Tacoma and found this pier where Mike used to fish as a kid. Yes, I realize I spelled pier wrong on the layout. I got my stamps out of order. Not sure how I'm going to fix it yet. Probably a little layering.

Yesterday was a big day for Brendan. It was kindergarten's turn to lead the Friday school Mass. He had a big two paragraph reading. He did so great in front of the 350+ people there. He read so clearly and did everything he was supposed to do. All my 7th graders were saying what a great job "Mini Schuette" did. It was a proud mama moment for sure :)

Word for 2011--Gratitude

I know I'm a little late in posting this; I can't believe it's already January 22nd! I decided on my word way back in November. In November, I (and a whole lot of other people) posted a daily message of gratitude on Facebook. I loved the reflection it allowed and the positive feelings I had as I focused each day on the many blessings in my life. Too often, I tend to get fixated on the bad things that happen, and I found this simple exercise improved my outlook and attitude. I love the idea of spending a whole year focused on everything there is to be thankful for.

Some other goals for 2011:

Scrabooking part I. I'll start with the creative goals, since this is primarily a creative blog. I have had a hard time keeping up on scrapbooking lately. By the time I pull everything out, and figured out what I want to do, I'm too tired, or need to be moving on to something else. I've been able to make time for crafting in the form of cards (something I hope to continue this year), but not scrapping. Late last year, I came to see the value in digital scrapbooking through Close To My Heart's Studio J. I love how fast and easy it is, and how beautiful the layouts are. My goal is to do a big chunk of my scrapping this way. I'm not giving up paper scrapping (how could I?!), but my hope is that it will free up my time to take the time to scrap only those events I really want to and not feel like I'm 10 steps behind.

Scrapbooking part II--Project Life. I finally treated myself to a Project Life kit this year. I love the idea of scrapping the daily moments that make us who we are. I love the idea of daily journaling even more. Time moves so fast and I want to capture the every day before I forget what life was like with two young boys.

Scrapping part III. I'm trying to get my CTMH business going again with a monthly hostess club. This will help to make time for scrapping and stamping, and help pay for my supplies, so I don't have guilt over how much I spend :P

Giving back. I feel so blessed to have found Operation Write Home this year. I love that I can do something I love, making cards, and give back to our soldiers at the same time. With the 3 card parties we did this year, I made or donated supplies for over 400 cards! I'm hoping to continue to hold card parties and donate cards for this wonderful charity throughout the year!

Regular posts on here. I did much better in 2010 with posting to my blog. I hope to get back up to 3-4 posts per week.

Be healthier. I want to continue to work on making our family as healthy as we can. Healthier meals, more exercise as a family, and we've been discussing having one "unplugged" day per week.

Be the best mom, wife, and teacher that I can be.

I was sick last week, so I'm trying to play catch up at both school and home. Here are some of the Valentines that my card girls made at our OWH party. I don't have the names of the papers handy. They were some I picked up at Archivers. The cards were simple, but they turned out adorable. I think I might have to go back and get more of the papers to make Valentines for my students :)

2010 Year in Review

Today I was inspired by Sparkle's blog post about her 2010 (and not just because I was in it). I thought what a great idea to reflect on all that happened to us in 2010. Since I'm in bed nursing the worst cold (?) I've had in years, I figured I could use something uplifting to do, so here goes :)

I have no idea what happened in January in February, since I have very few pictures, and no blog posts...hmmm. Exactly why I'm participating in Project life this year. Anyway, I'll hit the highlights in no particular order:

We took several trips this year.

Over spring break, we went to California to visit family and go to Disneyland. We had earned tickets by participating in Give a Day, Get a Day. By making blankets for Project Linus, we were able to go to Disneyland.

Over the summer, we went back to California. This time we went to Legoland.

We visited with family

I don't know why my boys decided not to wear shirts.

We also spent time with good friends.

At the end of summer, we traveled with Mike to Seattle for work.

We rode the ferry, visited the Space Needle, the zoo and other fun areas.

I got to meet one of my stamping idols, Sparkle. I've been blogger friends with Sparkle for years, but this was the first time I got to meet her in person.

The boys loved the Science Center so much that we went twice. The second day they were dying to try the tightrope. A little hard for a mama to watch, but I loved that they had no fear!

Other summer fun:

We got Discovery Center passes and zoo passes.

I had a wonderful summer hanging out with the boys. One of the blessings about being a teacher--summers off!

I also had one of the worst moments of my life over the summer. My brother, Taylor, was in an accident. He was airlifted from McCall to Boise, and we weren't sure if he was going to survive. Luckily, he came through it fine. What was unbelievable to me was the outpouring of love and support. So many people came by the hospital (at one point more than 30 people were there), called, and prayed. It truly was a miracle.

This was taken just a few days after he was released from the hospital. He's the one on the right.

Sports moments;

Austin played baseball for the first time.

We went bowling a few times.

We got up a 4:00 a.m. to attend ESPN's Game Day at Bronco Stadium.

Brendan started Kindergarten. This was a tough moment for me. I can't believe my BABY is in school. It's been so wonderful having both my boys at school with me!

Speaking of school, we took part in Rock Star Day to promote the school dinner auction.

I went to California to surprise my grandparents for their 60th anniversary party. It was wonderful to see anyone and celebrate this special milestone with them.

We went to visit Santa aboard the North Pole Express

Mike and I celebrated 12 years together with dinner at the Melting Pot and a night at the Anniversary Inn.

We spent Christmas with family and friends. My brother, Andy, couldn't make it, so "Flat Andy" spent Christmas with us. We had tons of fun posing with him. I'm currently working on a book about the adventures of Flat Andy.

Lots more happened, but I figured I've gone on long enough :) Here's to a wonderful 2011!

I made 30 Thank You cards for my students on Sunday. Would you believe that I didn't take an pictures?! I'm so bummed. I used a variety of CTMH and SEI papers and each card was different. I got in such a hurry to get them out, I forgot to photograph them first.

OWH CHallenge #11

The challenge today at Operation Write Home is to use 10 (or 20) things on a card. I made this card for the lady who lets us have our OWH card parties in her coffee shop. She has been so great about setting up tables, even adding leaves to them so we can all fit. When she has time, she even sits and make cards with us. She asks nothing of us in return, although we do tend to buy lots of drinks and yummy snacks. I love that thanks to her, I don't have to worry about getting my house clean or having room for everyone.

The card uses CTMH Jingle papers, Thank You and Snow Friends stamp sets.

Operation Write Home Update

The party today was a huge success! Twelve people showed up, including 5 students doing their community service hours. I haven't done a final count (I'll do that as I box them with envelopes), but it's close to 300 cards. Not bad for four hours :) I am thrilled. It feels so good to be able to do something like this. Two of my current students and one former student begged me to do this again soon. One said we need to do at least two next semester because that's the most fun she's had doing community service!! Gotta love it. The only bummer was that I didn't take any pictures. Next time. Thanks to everyone that came. Your help was definitely appreciated!!

Missing You Kids--Operation Write Home

Another card challenge for Operation Write Home. This one was to make a missing you card suitable to send to kids. I used CTMH Rough and Tumble papers. The airplane is from Flyin' High, and the heart is from TLC. The alphabet was an old promotion, so I'm not sure the name of it.
