Just when you think you've got it all figured out

Ugh! I just have to vent, so forgive me. Mike called last night and I knew it must be bad news because it was after one in DC. It was. He got woken up by a call from the Sheriff in CA. Apparently, our neighbor's 14 year old daughter and her friends were partying in our empty house. They'd also helped themselves to the alcohol we'd left there and were running up and down the street spraying our fire extinguishers. Nice! Parents weren't home and we don't even know how many people were in the house. Our other neighbors across the street called the police because they knew that we were no longer there. Thank goodness for them.

How did they get in you ask? Well, the girl's parents had offered to keep an eye on our house for us and Mike gave them a key so they could get the lawn mower and BBQ that we were GIVING them. What a great way to pay us back. We knew it was against our better judgement to give them a key, but I didn't expect this. We don't know what else the kids messed with or broke. I guess we'll have to wait until Friday when Mike gets there to see how bad it is. I last talked to him at 3 his time (one ours) and he was still waiting for both the Sheriff and the mom to call him back. Angry doesn't even begin to describe how I feel.

I am so sorry this has happened. But I am sure the Law will take care of this...hopefully their parents too.

Nicole, what a bummer! And how hard it is to be so far away and not be able to do anything.

On the bright side, I am so happy to see you are still writing in your blog. Getting up to date news from you (even if it is crappy news) makes me not miss you quite so much.

Got your super cute card today, made me tear up a little.

Oh Nic, you poor things. It is a stress you don't need when moving. Hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

That totally stinks - I cannot believe they would do that. So sorry you're dealing with this - good luck!

Nicole,
So sorry this happened to you. Kids can be so dumb sometimes. You just don't know what they were thinking. I bet that their parents dealt with them pretty good...better than the law would. Glad to see that you are writing again. I love reading your blog. How is the home hunting going?

Big hugs and prayers,

I'm so sorry for your troubles - it's awful when you're so far away and trying to "handle" it long distance! Frustrating.

Hugs.

I'm so sorry to hear this. That just totally stinks! I am sorry that you are so far away, and having to deal with this. I hope the girls get arrested! Rick said they probably go to his school...LOL. :) Well, I hope it all gets straightened out - and when Mike gets there, it won't be too bad. Been thinking about you - and missing you and the boys. Take care...Kim

I am so sorry to hear that has happened. I really pray that things work out and that they make it back up to you somehow or that at least the police department will take care of things accordingly. What an awful thing to have happen!
