Another Sneak Peek--Avonlea Card Kit

One of the things I'm most excited about in the upcoming Idea Book is the new Workshop on the Go Card Kits.  They come with everything you need to make 15 cards.  When I say everything, I mean instructions, stamps, papers, embellishments and envelopes.  What a deal!  Only $29.95 for 15 cards, including a stamp set.  There are two kits: Avonlea and Pear & Partridge (Christmas).

I put together the Avonlea kit over the weekend.  I didn't order our new Slate ink, so I ended up using Black, Chocolate, and Smokey Plum inks.

These are the three cards from the directions, using the stamp set that came with the kit.  Click photo to enlarge.

I decided I wanted to change up some of the sentiments to make cards I use the most (thank you and thinking of you).

I think with a little tweaking, you could use these papers for Christmas cards, too.

Sneak Peek at Dakota and Scrap Club Information

I thought I'd give you a little sneak peek of one of the new paper packs featured in the new catalog available August 1st.  Dakota is perfect for any western-themed photos, as I've shown here, but it also works well for all kinds of photos.  THe papers are beautiful!  This is the kit we will be starting with in our next round of Scrapbook Club in August.  At the bottom of this post, I've included all the details about my monthly club, perfect for scrapbookers or card makers.

This layout uses the Dakota papers and Foil Stickers.  They were perfect for the pictures from last year's school auction dress up day.

Scrap (and Card) Club Info
New Idea Book, new club.   For those interested, I hope you’ll join us!
What is it?
A monthly club where we get together to create fun papercrafting projects.  Starting in August, you will have your choice of creating three 2-page layouts OR 10 cards.   Everything is pre-cut; you just come and create.  You don't have to commit to one or the other, just let me know each month whether you want to do the cards or the layouts.
When do we meet?
We will continue to meet the third Thursday of every month from 6:30-8:30 and the third Saturday of the month from 10:00-12:00.
What is the cost?
The cost of the basic kit is $20.  This includes a paper pack and embellishments to create the projects.  I will pre-cut the pieces you need, and you keep the rest for your own projects.  You can upgrade to the Workshop on the Go kit, which includes a stamp set for $34 ($29.95 plus tax).  You can also add on anything else from the idea book.
Hostess Club Benefits:
Each month, I will draw a name for the next month.  That person will be the hostess for the following month.   The hostess gets the hostess rewards (a minimum of $40 in FREE product) and one half-price item.  The hostess is also in charge of bringing treats for their month.
Try It Night:
Not sure if you’re ready to commit? Want to bring a friend?  I also offer a “try it” option for $5.  You or a friend can come and make 1 layout or 2 cards.
Deadline:
I need to have all orders by the 5th of the month to ensure everything is here on time and I have time to cut everything.
In addition to the above benefits, members receive a free Idea Book before they go live, advance notice of specials, and bonus goodies throughout the year.

Note: If you are not in the Boise are, Workshops on the Go are perfect for you!  For just $29.95 plus tax and shipping, you can have the stamp set, papers, embellishments, and instructions.  Plus, you can still be a part of the hostess club and earn FREE product!

July Layouts--Cruisin'

This month we are scrapping vacation photos with the Cruisin' kit.  I love these fun "on the road" papers and embellishments.   Club members are using Cruisin' papers, Cruisin' foil Stickers, and coordinating Bottle Caps.

Layout #1 California Road Trip

Layout #2 Seaside, Oregon.  I don't have my title on this one because the new catalog has some fabulous glitter alphabet stickers that I want to get for the title.

A couple close ups of the embellishments.  I used some of the foil stickers on clear buttons to give a little dimension.

 Layout #3 Legoland

For those of you that are local, I am hosting a crop tomorrow at my house from 12:00--??.  Dinner is included :)  If you are interested in my scrapbook club, we are starting a new round in August for the next 6 months.  Live far away, that's ok.  I will mail your kit to you.  There is an additional $5.00 for shipping of kits.

Soundsuit Fun at the Art Museum

Last week, I spent the week taking an art class for teachers at the Boise Art Museum.  First of all, if you are a teacher and have the opportunity to take one of the summer educator classes at the museum--do it!  They are so much fun!   Much of the artwork we created was inspired by the current exhibition at the museum, Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth.  THis exhibit is full of Nick Cave's "Soundsuits."  They are unlike anything I've ever seen.  They also haves a set of suits that perform around town.  We are hoping to catch a performance.  Here's a couple images.

The more time we spent with these Soundsuits, the more fascinated I became.  On Saturday, they were offering a family workshop, so I signed us up.  We had fun discussing the art and even got to make sound suits of our own.  I loved having the opportunity to do this as a family.  Austin got totally into performing his suit.  I have video of both boys performing their suits, but I haven't figured out how to get them off my phone.  I'll try to post the videos later.  In the meantime, here's some photos of our artsy fun.

Relay For Life

Last night we participated in Relay For Life for the second year in a row.  It's such a beautiful event.  It's a chance to remember those who have lost their battle with cancer and to celebrate the survivors.  As those who are close to us know, our family has been hit hard in the last 15 years.  I've lost an uncle and three great uncles.  My brother was diagnosed at 24 and is a survivor.  My cousin was diagnosed a couple years ago and is living with Leukemia.  We've also had a number of people in our family who have had skin cancer remover.  As you might imagine, Cancer organizations get our full support.

I love being a part of Rely because you get to interact with the survivors and hear the stories of those who have battled this horrendous disease.  Even though there are always tears shed, it is an evening of celebration and heartwarming to see so many people come together for a good cause.  Plus, we always get my brother up here for a visit :)

Here are a few of my photos from the event.

My favorite!  My brother, Andy, with the boys.

Luminary bags--a couple of them.  I realized too late that we should have used thicker, darker markers  because they didn't show up very well in the dark.
The memory lap lit only by candlelight (and a few stage and booth lights).
