Picture Frame

I'm doing a gift workshop next month and one of the items is an altered frame. I made this today. I don't love my crumpled flowers because I tried to cheat and use Cricut flowers as a base. They work though :)

This is a card I made for my cousin's birthday (she's 4, so I need one more candle--oops). It's very sparkly in person. I used my cuttlebug for the background and my Cricut for the cupcake.

Technique Time and Spring Break fun

It's that time--I'll be teaching my monthly technique class this week. We're focusing on re-inker techniques this time around. Here are three of the four cards we'll be making. The fourth will use flowers dyed with re-inkers.

Baby Wipe Technique

Painted chipboard ribbon buckle with Black Re-Inker

Background painted with Buttercup and Cranberry Re-Inkers (both the second and third section were combos of the two)

Here's a few pics from our whirlwind week:
San Diego Zoo

I love watching the boys' reactions to the animals--so fun!

The pandas--our favorite :)

Gotta love the back rolls--LOL!

Polar bear fun

The Skyfari ride--the kids were scared before we got on, but we ended up riding it 3 times :)

Brendan's new habit is to cover his ears whenever he's scared or nervous.

The only picture I got the day of the Kidspace Museum. I took it before we left. The rest I took on a throw away camera and they didn't turn out :( I did get a cute one on my phone, but I have no idea how to transfer it.

Easter Eggs

And finally,

ONE

TWO

THREE Easter egg hunts--what fun!

And today, we were tired!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed day with their families! We will be running around trying to spend time with all the family today. I have lots to post about from my fun week with the boys, and also some new artwork, so I'll get to that tomorrow--I promise!

A couple square cards

Sorry for the general lack of posts this week. Austin is out on Spring break, so my routine is off. I spent the first part of the week getting stuff done and now for the fun stuff. Today we are headed to San Diego to go to the zoo. I'm just killing time on here while cleaning out my camera so I have room for pictures :)

Here's a couple cards I made this week. The first is my attempt at the Dahlia fold. I used CTMH's Floral Impressions paper. This took me a long time and ended up a lot bigger than I imagined, but was fun. Not a technique I'll use very often.

This card is for my monthly SOTM swap, so it uses CTMH's upcoming April stamp of the month, Express Postage. The papers are the Silhouette pack.
All righty, little one just came in all excited for the zoo, so I guess it's time :)

Crazy snow!!

We have been waiting all winter for snow. Living in the CA desert, it's not something we see often. In fact, the last time we had a lot of snow was in November of 2004. Every time it rains, my boys get their hopes up. Well today we went to a friend's house about 40 minutes away and this is what we came home to:

This was Brendan's first time really playing in the snow and he was ecstatic!

Austin loved throwing snowballs (here he had just gotten me)

And you can tell who's the biggest kid of all :)

The snowman before it colllapsed..

Austin and I wimped out first and Daddy had to drag Brendan in crying. Now we're all warming up with some hot cocoa. Next a fire in the fireplace and a movie--March--who knew?!

Fun cards with my new toy and a challenge card

I finally had a chance to really play with my Cuttlebug today. My only problem with it is that I hate covering up the beautiful embossed backgrounds. I am loving how fast and easy these cards are. Simple, but fun :)

This one is for Marjorie's color challenge for this week. I used markers and a blending pen for the flowers and a sponge for the background.

Well this is fun :-P

Last night I took the boys out for pizza (Mike was at a training) and as we were eating, I crunched on something hard. Well in the next moment, I realized it was my tooth. One of my back molars completely chipped--on pizza--aaack! Luckily, I wasn't in pain and I was able to get into the dentist today--a big THANK YOU to my friend Julie , who watched the boys for me!! Turns out I needed crown, but at this point, not a root canal. Three hours and $300+ later, we're all back home. What a crazy thing!

I haven't had much time to stamp, nor have I felt inspired the last couple days. However, here's a few cards I've made recently with my Sweet N Sassy stamps. I can't wait to get the farm set--that's next on my list :)

Thank yous from Austin's party--it was a month ago and I've made all of three cards. I may never get them done. The first one is My Mind's Eye papers. The second is retired Cocoa Cafe paper from CTMH.

This one uses Penguin Hugs--I just love this little guy. Papers are My Mind's Eye. When I used Stickles on him the ink bled a little, but he's still cute.

And this one is my favorite! I used Pond Pals stamps. Then I used my cuttlebug to emboss the background and brayered and sponged the background. These are fun bright colors that I rarely use; I don't know why. They're actually the colors from LAST WEEK'S color challenge on Marjorie's blog--better late than never :)
And because he's two (at least that's the only reason I can think of), Brendan decided that every shoe he could find needed to get moved into my scrap room. This is what I found next to my counter. Oh and he threw a few animals in there just for fun.

We have a winner--make that two :)

The winner of the "sounds of scrapping" blog candy is Suzanne. And the bonus trivia winner is Tracy. It was season 4 where Pheobe and Monica start their catering business. They are working a funeral and the widow won't pay because she's too "upset", then she's suddenly singing "You're A Grand Old Flag". Gotta love Friends :)

Congrats ladies and email me your address and I'll ship out your goodies!

Busy Busy

When am I not busy? Some of you have asked, and yes, we are still pursuing the move to Idaho, and no we haven't heard anything yet. In the meantime, I've applied to re-instate my Idaho Teaching Credential and am in the process of getting my application in order. I can't really do much else until my credential goes through. If I can get a teaching position soon, then Mike can, inaddition to his application for the position in Boise, also apply for a forced transfer if I have a job up there. Still keeping those fingers crossed.

In the meantime, I finished a couple of fun projectws over the weekend. The first is my first ever knitting poject--this scarf. I finished it Friday night. I still can't believe I learned to knit on Thursday and finished a scarf Friday night--wowsa! Of course I have a few spots in the scarf that aren't as pretty as I'd like, and I'm not anywhere near ready to move onto anything that involves actual measurements, but it's a start!

Yesterday I completed a project I've been wanting to try ever since I went to Las Vegas for CTMH Regionals last month. This lady had a purse that she made that was so stinkin' cute. I think her name was Judy, but I'm not sure. She told me the basics of making one and I had to try it. Mine is nowhere near as cute as hers, but I like it. The papers/stickease are CTMH's Floral Tapestry kit. Not my favorite paper, but I had bought a black purse handle and all the other papers I love have brown in them, so that would have bugged me.

If I ever try this project again, I want to find come kind of spiral binding for the bottom because lacing all that ribbon was tedious. I cut all the holes with my Bind It All.

I also got my new green itty bitty bug on Friday. I have been seeing so many cute Cuttlebug cards that I finally had to buy one! I only have two embossing folders for it though, so I need to find a few more. I've played some, but haven't finished any cards yet. I'm hoping to post some soon :)

New Artwork and a New Hobby

Here are some of the cards we will be making for my card workshop tomorrow. We are actually making 15, but the rest I've previously posted on here in other catagories. I was aiming for simple/quick cards.

I saw Caron Bernard's idea on the CTMH board about making "His and Hers" cards for a workshop. I came up with these two based on two of her cards:

I had the same idea with these two. They were inspired by Kathi's cards, but are no where near as beautiful. I wanted to show how you could make feminine and masculine cards from one stamp set, in this case, Thoughts of You.

These two are using the Stamp of the Month, Simple Beauty. The last one came from one I saw (ok copied) on Lisa's blog. If you haven't seen her artwork--it's GORGEOUS!

Another hobby? I must be crazy!!

After reading all the Blossom Street book by Debbie Macomber and finishing Friday Night Knitting Club a couple days ago, and seeing Nona's beautiful little poncho, I decided I was going to learn to knit. I've always wanted to. It must have been meant to be because when I went to Jo-Ann's yesterday to buy blank cards for my workshop, all the knitting stuff was on sale. So yesterday afternoon I went back and forth between a book I have and a few internet sites and taught myself how to knit. Here was the first piece I didn't rip back out--LOL! I *think* it's going to be a scarf. Mike keeps laughing at me (why do you want to knit all of a sudden?) and the kids keep wondering why mommy keeps starting over. It may not be too polished yet, but I'm pretty proud of myself.

Just for FunPoll and Friends Trivia

Ok, I've been working on some fun things, some of which I'll be posting soon and some that either I already mailed without taking pictures of (ugh! I hate when I do that) or are for my secret sis, so I can't reveal ;-)

In the meantime, how about a fun little poll. What do you like to watch/listen to while you are scrapping and stamping? Me? It's all about the Friends. Occasionally, I'll throw in a movie (something I've seen a million times like 13 Going on 30 or Sweet Home Alabama) or play music, but 9 times out of 10, I throw in a Friends DVD. The only season I'm missing is 9, which I swear I bought, but cannot find. I never missed an episode in the 10 years it was on and watching them is like visiting an old friend--LOL!

I want to hear from you--what do you watch or listen to? I'll draw a random winner on Saturday, the 8th to receive a fun little package from me.

And for all you other Friends fans, yesterday I couldn't stop singing, "You're a Grand Old Flag"--can anyone name the season and episode (a description is ok). I'll draw a random winner from the correct answers on Saturday to win a handmade card :)

Yee Haw!

Yesterday, I went to my friend Angie's baby shower--what fun! They had a western theme and everything was pink cowgirl. I rode with my friend Brandy and we had quite an adventure getting there thanks to Mapquest (as Brandy said, the first place we got off the freeway looked like the setting for an episode of COPS!). After a little stress and a lot of laughs we made it there and had a great time. That baby is going to be one very loved little girl--I can't wait to meet her!

Here was what I made for her. The baby's room is a western theme in denim and gingham. The paper I used is from a retired CTMH set, Giddy Up and some denim paper I got at the LSS. I love doing these paint cans because they are so much fun :)
